Garrett Gumbinner
Special Agent Bomb Technician (Ret.) Garrett Gumbinner spent 21 years at the FBI. Upon graduating new Agent training in Quantico he was assigned to the Dallas FBI Field Office where he focused on White Collar Crime and Terrorism investigations. In 2005, he was selected to attend the FBI’s Hazardous Device School at Redstone Arsenal, AL where he received SABT certification. SABT Gumbinner served as the Dallas SABT Program Coordinator handling all explosive and bombing incidents in the North Texas area. In 2007, SABT Gumbinner deployed with the FBI to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. There he gained valuable experience processing numerous post blast scenes, collecting evidence and intelligence in the use of Improvised Explosive Devices used against Coalition Forces, and partnering with multi-national forces.
In 2009, SABT Gumbinner transferred to the Denver FBI Office and served 12 years as the SABT Program Coordinator certifying, training and deploying with 20 bomb squads in the State of Colorado and Wyoming. During his time in Denver he worked numerous high-profile investigations to include Al Qaeda terrorist Najibullah Zazi, the Aurora Theater Shooting, the Planned Parenthood Shooting, and multiple bombings and active shooter incidents.
